Celebrating nearly 100 years of history, Temple Theatre is a cornerstone of Sanford’s artistic legacy. Originally built in 1925 as a Vaudeville house, this historic venue has evolved through the decades, transforming from theatre to cinema to clothing outlet, until 1981, when the son of the original owner rallied the community to restore it. Thanks to these efforts, the theatre reopened in 1984 and has since flourished as Central Carolina’s Center for the Performing Arts. With professional productions, youth programs and special events, Temple Theatre remains a hub for creativity and culture.
